Sabri Lamouchi steps down as Ivory Coast head coach


The former France international Sabri Lamouchi stepped down a couple of hours later after his side Ivory Coast failed to qualify for the knockout stage of the World Cup. The Elephants lot 2 - 1 to their opponent Greece, in their final Group C game on Tuesday. The outcome of the game made them to become third position their group while their opponent Greece qualified as second in the group.
Lamouchi's contract was meant to last till the end of the world cup but the French man deem it necessary to resign on time because all hope was lost at the end of the game. He said:
"I'm deeply disappointed for the players. Ivory Coast is a great football nation and this was a cruel game. After so much hard work and so much sacrifice, all of us and everyone in the team is very sad."
They were just some few seconds away from achieving what Samaras earned a controversial penalty, by so doing their dream of proceeding further tp the round of 16 was cut short.
