The Uruguay striker Luiz Suarez will now miss the rest of his World Cup games after he was found guilty today for bitting his opponent Chiellini an Italian defender for nine international matches and four months. Such a behavior cannot be tolerated on the football pitch after he was involved in previous allegations, when the whole world have eyes on the pitch watching the tournament.
Suarez who plays for Liverpool in England, will miss the start of the Premier League next season and will also miss out on a role in the Champions League games next season as well. Also, the ban also covers Uruguay's next nine international matches, which will stretch beyond the next four months, and will almost certainly rule him out of the start of next year's Copa America, this South America's continental championship.
A statement released by the governing body FIFA said, the Disciplinary Committee of FIFA took into account all the necessary factors of the case and the degree of Suarez's guilt in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Code. They came to a conclusion that Suarez had "breached" the code of "an act unsporting behavior towards another player.
In addition, FIFA said Suarez will serve the ban starting this weekend and will have to pay the sum of $112,000 fine. The ban also restrain him from entering any stadium in which Uruguay is playing while he serves the nine match ban.
