Reports of deaths after explosion hits venue in northeast town of Damaturu where fans had gathered to watch the on-going FIFA World Cup. The Nigerian police have confirmed the situation at hand and they are doing their best to recover casualties from the scene.
"There was an explosion outside a soccer viewing center here in Damaturu at around 8:15 pm. Our men have deployed to the scene but its too early for us to give details"
"Agencies are reporting several pickup trucks (containing casualties) have been rushed down to the hospital at Damaturu for treatment.
A witness told reporters near the scene that they a loud boom and some few minutes later they heard another loud explosion and ran for their life's.
Police commissioner for Yobe state told AFP,
The government in Damaturu advised the general public two days ago before the incident that they should shut down all viewing center's and avoid watching the FIFA World Cup in a public area.
